Arriving in France
Resident permit
If you are a non-European Community, non EEA student, you have to apply for a temporary student residence permit immediately after arrival in France. Once you are in Marseille, the International Relations Office will indicate how and where to get the necessary documents.
When your request is accepted, you will be invited to collect your residence card at the Préfecture des Bouches-du -Rhône in Marseille :

Open from Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (no appointment necessary: be ready for a long wait).
Your application file should contain the following documents:
- Photocopy of valid passport
- Proof of residence in France (residence certificate from the Hall of Residence Office (CROUS )
- Proof of enrolment (enrolment certificate/photocopy of French student card)
- Proof of means of subsistence (scholarship certificate or bank statements giving proof of adequate funds)
- Birth certificate (French translation)
- 4 passport photos
A medical examination is compulsory for non-European Community students. After handing in your application for a residence permit, you will receive a notice to attend the medical examination. At the medical examination you will be given a document on which you need to put a 55 € OMI stamp. You need to present the medical certificate when you pick up your residence permit.

Bank account
Opening a bank account is strongly recommended. You will need to have a bank account to receive the accomodation allowance. To open a bank account, you have to provide the following documents:
- Photocopy of passport
- Proof of accomodation
- Photocopy of student card or pre-registration.
