With the arrival of each new class of around 300 students, the aim of the training is twofold.On one hand, our aim is to ensure that each student attains, at the utmost level, the five abilities that define the Centrale engineer. Secondly, to support each student in his or her many choices, as closely as possible to his or her personal aspirations and talents.

In order to fulfil these two requirements, Centrale Méditerranée has developed a distinctive curriculum that empowers students to become the architects of their own career path:

Period 1: a shared scientific culture

The initial three semesters are structured around a distinctive rhythm of four academic weeks followed by one week of exploration and experiential learning in a professional setting.

This initial segment of the curriculum enables students to gain self-awareness, establish a strong foundation of scientific knowledge, and engage in practical scenarios.

Stage 2: personalized training

This stage is built upon a wide array of combinations and opportunities: themed semesters, breaks for personal pursuits or academic endeavors, projects, international mobility, specialized options, career paths, internships, dual degrees, and more.

Spanning three to five semesters, this second segment of the curriculum offers a chance to assert one's individuality, delve into specific fields of knowledge, and envision a future in a professional capacity.

Tailored guidance

Throughout the "CAP" sessions, students are mentored by Skippers from the teaching teams as they shape their professional trajectory.

Each individual focuses on progressively acquiring their abilities, fostering their autonomy, and crafting a personalized and career-oriented training plan that is customized and suited to their needs. It is the responsibility of each person to establish their own cape and navigate towards the ultimate goal!

Time 1: semesters 5, 6, 7

During this first part of the course, you forge your engineering culture, while simultaneously embarking on a phase of personal exploration.

Personal challenge

Training at Centrale Méditerranée is marked by chances and choices, the extent of which gradually grows more and more significant.

Hence, it is a matter, for you, of preparing your decisions, of unveiling your profound motivations, of clarifying your aspirations, of becoming conscious of your own qualities, and of questioning your values.

The first challenge is to uncover your true self. The density and abundance of associative life, the engagement in athletic and artistic pursuits, the discovery of new perspectives through the numerous seminars, the embrace of global and international cultures found within the Ecole, and the immersion in the heart of the region will be, among many others, numerous opportunities to live experiences and gain a deeper understanding of oneself.

Academic challenge

As an exceptional all-rounder, the curriculum is founded on top-notch instruction in the fundamental areas that you must excel in as a graduate from Centrale Méditerranée, with acknowledged experts in each field collaborating to create diverse and innovative teaching approaches.

This theoretical groundwork, shared by all students, equips you with a foundation of information that is indispensable for studying and resolving intricate problems.

The second endeavour, therefore, entails constructing a knowledge base while progressively selecting options and delving into more comprehensive courses.

Professional challenge

The aim is to stimulate your professional skills at an early stage and to develop them progressively throughout the course.

From the first year onwards, you will experience various aspects of the engineering profession, based on concrete cases and in a reflective spirit. Centrale Méditerranée's innovative concept of work-study meets this ambition.

This is also the aim of the projects that punctuate the three semesters, and of the internship at the end of the first year.

The "Train'Ing" weeks gradually develop your interpersonal and organisational skills, stimulate your creativity and curiosity and sharpen your ability to work as part of a team to produce a result in a short space of time.

Semester 7: Thematic Project

Thematic project: work in project mode (creation, study, feasibility, production, rendering) with emphasis on work methodology, scientific approach, group work, etc.

If you have student status, the end of semester 7 leads to one of the following three choices:

  1. Stay at Centrale Méditerranée and opt for one of the five multidisciplinary thematic courses.
  2. Opt for one-semester international mobility and benefit from the School’s extensive network of partners.
  3. Spend a semester in a Research or Entrepreneurship work-study program

Time 2: Semesters 8, 9 and 10

During the latter half of the course, you set forth on the journey that you have slowly outlined, among the numerous paths suggested.

The aim of this "stage 2" is to sketch your personality, unique and consistent, enriched by a deeper understanding of yourself, at the intersection of your academic preferences and your career ambitions.

Personal challenge

It's time to assert yourself through engaging life experiences:

  • International mobility (meetings, discoveries and exchanges in an intercultural context).
  • Gap year (personal fulfilment).
  • Social interaction (2nd year work placement and Master thesis).

This second part of the curriculum will enable you to identify the living and working environments that best suit your values and your interests in research, management or entrepreneurship.

If each Centrale Méditerranée engineer is indeed a polymath, every one of you possesses your own repository of knowledge: this "time 2" strives to enhance your understanding in your favored fields.

Academic excellence, ensured by academic staff of the Ecole, who publish in the best international journals, benefit from countless opportunities to complete or perfect the studies during international mobility, during the gap year or as part of additional registration in a Master's degree.

Professional challenge

Plan ahead and actively prepare for your professional integration.To help you do this, a whole range of schemes are available:

  • Projects (semesters 8 and 9) ; 
  • advanced management training and career pathways (semester 9) ;
  • 2nd year work placement and final year dissertation (semester 10).

In addition, a large number of professionals regularly take part in "time 2", to pass on the most up-to-date information, techniques and knowledge about professions and business sectors.

Semester 8: 5 Thematics tracks

 

Bioengineering

  • This is the discovery of a booming field with real potential. Multidisciplinary training extended to the fields of biotechnology and health.

Dynamics, mutation and crises

  • Knowledge of tools for modelling dynamics, mutations and crises, in a interdisciplinary relationship (physics, chemistry, economics, etc.) and study of the scope and limits of this modelling.

Sustainable Energy

  • Understanding and analysing energy issues and challenges, providing scientific and technical solutions, using an appropriate intellectual approach that integrates the sciences, social sciences and economics.

Environment : management and technologies

  • Introduction to the issues of sustainable development, tools to understand and situate the different levels of action and to develop techniques aimed at reducing the impact of human activity on its environment (water, air, etc.).

Information sciences and digital society

  • Solid knowledge of this scientific and technical sector, development of knowledge on the capabilities of material information processing systems (hardware) and awareness of the societal problems posed by these technologies and their uses.
Semester 9

The in-depth options form a total of 300 hours. 100 hours are done later in S10.

Semester 10: Master thesis

Lasting between 4 and 6 months, the Master thesis work placement is the ultimate preparation for professional life, in France or abroad, and is a direct passport to employment for around half of all students.
